CLUB CONSTITUTION

AND RULES

Name and Objectives:

  1.    The club shall be called “Kings Bromley Snooker Club”

  1.     The objective of the club is to provide facilities for and promote the game of snooker, and other social activities, in Kings Bromley and surrounding villages.

Governance:

  1.     The General Committee shall have entire control of the Club and shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and other members elected at the Annual General Meeting.   Three members of the General Committee must be present to form a quorum at meetings.

  1.     An Annual General Meeting shall be held on or before the 31st December each year. Five members must be present to form a quorum in order to:

    •     Elect the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and other members of the General Committee.  Individuals may hold multiple positions, on a temporary basis only, if no nominations are received.

    •     Approve the Accounts as presented by the Treasurer.

    •     Elect an Honorary Auditor who is not a member of the General Committee.

  1.     The General Committee shall have the power to alter these rules, but no such alteration shall take effect until the changes have been approved by the members at the Annual General Meeting, or a Special General Meeting convened for that purpose.  Not less than 14 days notice shall be given for the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting.

  1.     The General Committee shall be empowered to set up other sub-committees or co-opt members when necessary to deal with special cases.

  1.     The General Committee shall be responsible for the expenditure of the Club and for setting the annual membership subscription and frame fees. No expenditure shall be incurred without the prior authority of the General Committee.

Membership:

  1.     Access to the Club shall be restricted to persons over the age of 12 years, unless otherwise approved by the General Committee. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult member of the Club, who will be responsible for their conduct.

  2.     A copy of these rules shall be handed to each member at the time of payment of their first subscription. Application for and acceptance of membership shall be considered as implying acquiescence in and submission to these rules.

  1.   All subscriptions shall become payable on the 1st September each year and payment shall be acknowledged by the Treasurer in electronic or printed format.

  1.   The General Committee may recommend any member to be a life member of the Club, where the services or financial support rendered to the Club by that member does, in the opinion of the members, warrant the conferring of that honour.  Such recommendation to be approved at the Annual General Meeting.

  2.   Any member acting in a disorderly manner shall be ordered to leave the premises forthwith by any official of the club present at the time. Such a person may appeal to appear before the General Committee within three days by a request to the Secretary in writing. The person concerned shall, until the case is considered by the General Committee, consider themselves to be suspended from the Club.

  1.   Members shall cease to be members by:

    •     Non-payment of the annual subscription.  Any membership not renewed by the time of the Annual General Meeting will be deemed to have lapsed.

    •     Expulsion.  The General Committee shall have the powers to expel any member whose conduct they consider renders the member unfit for membership of the Club.

    •     Resignation.

Anyone ceasing to be a member of the club must return the keys for the village hall and club room to the Secretary or other member of the General Committee.  Past members shall not again be nominated for membership unless all arrears from the date of ceasing to be a member, and any other fee or fine as decided upon by the General Committee, are paid.

Data Protection:

  1.   The Club shall hold, in electronic format, information provided in the application form (including any subsequent amendments) and may distribute this to other members in electronic or printed format, or display on notice boards.  Members may ask for information to be deleted or not communicated by notification to the Secretary or General Committee.

Dissolution:

  1.    In the event that the Club becomes unviable for any reason and has to close, the General Committee shall make all necessary arrangements to ensure that the assets of the Club (including all contents of the snooker room and remaining cash balance) are retained in a way that would facilitate the re-creation of the Club at some future date.  If this proves impossible (to be ratified at Special General Meeting), then the General Committee shall have sole discretion as to how the remaining assets are disposed.

This amended Constitution was adopted at the Annual General Meeting held via Zoom meeting on Monday 14th December 2020, at 7.00 p.m.
